Andhakshi ashrams are blind centers in India that provide a means of asylum and support for underprivileged visually impaired individuals. These Ashrams primarily rely on donations to support the individuals residing within. During the summer of 2021, the COVID-19 cases in India began surging like never before. Due to the lockdown restrictions, it became increasingly difficult for the ashram to attain supplies to support its residents. The ashram was limited in supplies to the point where basic necessities were sparse.

Upon receiving a $5,000 grant from the Anekant Community Center and Sarva Mangal Trust, our Eye Matter team decided to allocate funding towards supporting Andhaksi Ashrams in India. We purchased sanitation supplies and toiletries and created relief kits for each resident in the ashram. Our team delivered boxes full of kits to the ashram so that every resident in the ashram has the means for basic necessities. We hope to continue our support towards underprivileged visually impaired individuals of all ages globally.
